Press Release - Puma Technology

Puma Technology's Intellisync Synchronization Software Makes the REX PC Companion a True PC Extension

SAN JOSE, Calif.--April 6, 1998-- Experts In Synchronization Provide REX Users With A New Intellisync Offering Enabling Seamless Interaction With Favorite PC-based Applications

Puma Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:PUMA), a leading provider of advanced synchronization solutions providing the broadest support for handheld devices and applications in the market, has expanded its Intellisync software family to support the Franklin REX PC companion. Puma's latest Intellisync offering enables users to maximize the ultra slim, credit-card sized REX by providing powerful access to critical contact, schedule, memo, and to-do list information contained in PC-based personal information management (PIM) software.

Intellisync will seamlessly exchange key information between popular PC-based PIM software such as Microsoft Schedule+ 7.0/7.0a/7.5, Microsoft Outlook 97/98, Symantec ACT! 3.0.8, and Lotus Organizer 97/97 GS, and the built in applications on the REX device. With Intellisync for REX, people on the move can now keep business and personal lifestyle information updated and at their fingertips whether at a meeting, en route to a social event or even on the beach. Intellisync for REX will ship during the second half of April 1998 and will be available for a suggested retail price of $69.95 from major computer stores nationwide or directly from Puma Technology's web site at www.pumatech.com.

"The REX PC Companion is a revolutionary consumer and enterprise product because it is ultra-portable, easy-to-use, and very inexpensive. It is clearly a major new platform," said Brad Rowe, president and CEO of Puma Technology. "Adding REX to our Intellisync product family greatly expands the appeal of REX in both corporate and SOHO settings where Intellisync is already the defacto standard in mobile data exchange for devices like the PalmPilot, Windows CE and notebook PCs."

Intellisync for REX Brings Advanced and Unparalleled Features
Intellisync for REX offers capabilities critical to optimizing the use of the REX device. Consumers can benefit from advanced features including custom filtering, field mapping, date range support, and the unique ability to synchronize the REX handheld PC to multiple PC-based applications simultaneously. Custom filtering in particular allows users to quickly and seamlessly synchronize even large databases by selecting only the information that the user wants updated. This results in the conservation of valuable memory space on the REX device.

Getting People in Sync
Puma's Intellisync solutions overcome the challenges people face of keeping their lives synchronized with today's popular handheld digital devices such as a pocket organizer, smart phone or smart pager. Intellisync technology is uniquely designed to eliminate the problems of synchronizing data between a broad range of disparate database applications and computer platforms. Intellisync currently supports a wide range of mobile devices including 3Com's PalmPilot and IBM WorkPad, AT&T's PocketNet Service phones, the Nokia 9000i Communicator, the family of Sharp personal organizers, the Texas Instruments Avigo and family of organizers, all Windows CE-based handheld PCs, notebook computers and others.

Puma's Intellisync solution allows consumers to extend their use of the REX device by providing the ability to exchange PC-based information from popular contact and personal information management (PIM) applications. Like the rest of Puma's Intellisync family, Intellisync for REX will extend support over time to other popular PC-based personal information management, group scheduling, and contact management software. Additional PIM support is expected to roll out later this year.

Users may keep their Intellisync software completely up-to-date with Puma's optional Premier Upgrade Subscription Service. New Intellisync users can purchase an annual subscription to the Premier Upgrade Subscription Service for $39.95 at the time of the initial Intellisync purchase. This brings the user unlimited Intellisync software upgrades for an entire year. Current users who decide to subscribe to Puma's Premier Upgrade Subscription Service can receive the same unlimited services for the annual fee of $49.95. Corporate site licenses are also available through Puma's Intellisync Gold synchronization solution, which encompasses all Intellisync supported devices and personal information management (PIM) and scheduling applications.

DSX(TM) Technology -- Intellisync's Powerful Engine
Puma's patented DSX technology, the core of all Intellisync solutions, is protected by four United States patents and is the subject of other patents pending. DSX technology accurately synchronizes information between popular contact and scheduling applications and mobile devices. It ensures that all the information contained in these devices and applications is kept in sync as changes are made on a continual basis within the different device environments.

DSX technology can go so far as to resolve the intricate differences between how various features and functions of the handheld devices and applications are implemented and also recognize possible entry mistakes such as conflicting appointments or mismatched phone numbers.
