August 1999
PPC Devices for VBCE!VBCE Strikes Back
By webmaster@vbce.com

It's now August 1999, and I'm sitting here thinking about the beginner's of VBCE.  2 years ago Microsoft announced the VBCE 1.0 toolkit for creating Windows CE application with Visual Basic.  It's been a long hard road, but finally VBCE 6.0 is here and more powerful than ever.  Now providing the ability to access API's as well as create apps with command bars.

VBCE 6.0 empowers developers to create applications for Handheld PC's, Handheld Pro, and Palm Top devices!  You can even create embedded systems with the VBCE toolkit.  The only SDK left is Auto-PC development, which I am sure is coming very soon.VBCE and HPC Devices!

As the VBCE toolkit and Windows CE mature, the market for Windows CE is only going to grow.  The amount of people visiting the VBCE.com has almost tripled in the least few years.  This indicates to me that more and more people and companies are interested in CE development.

One big point I want to make is that Windows CE is not here to replace the desktop machine or your laptop computer.  Windows CE is here to extend the computing environment to a remote world.  Imagine taking your contacts, sales, e-mail, and all pertinent, necessary information with you, in the palm of your hand!   Please don't try to re-write all your applications for Windows CE.  Do try though to create applications that can extend your current client server/weblication solutions.

For those of you who are ready to take a chance and get into the CE market, VBCE 6.0 is the greatest way to go right now!  It has the power and ease of Visual Basic and will allow you create applications swiftly and smoothly!   Windows CE is here to stay my friend.  Get in while it's young and set your place in Windows CE history.
